Little Joe McLerran Wins 1st Place at the International Blues Challenge - Memphis

Blues Societies from around the world sponsored a total of 65 Solo/Duo acts to compete in the annual International Blues Challenge Semifinals, 25th Anniversary edition in Memphis on Feb 5th & 6th, 2009. The band competition was represented by another 85 groups from around the globe.

On Saturday, Feb 7th, six finalists were chosen from two preceding nights performances, from multiple Beale Street venues - advancing to the finals in the Solo/Duo catagory.

Little Joe McLerran was selected to perform in the third slot at the finals at the Orpheum Theatre. Each of the final six finalists were allowed a 20 minute set. Three judges were responsibile for evaluating all talent based upon predetermined and standardized criteria. Outstanding performances by all the finalists made for an extremely entertaining and talent laden evening, which culminated with the selection of Little Joe McLerran as the 1st Place winner for the 25th Anniversary Edition of the International Blues Challenge, sponsored by the Blues Foundation.
